Self Defence near Pascoe Vale

Self Defence Classes for Pascoe Vale

Practical, ongoing self defence, east along Bell St

Two students practising self defence, for Pascoe Vale classes

Confidence you can carry home

Our self defence classes give Pascoe Vale students practical skills and the confidence that comes with them. You learn to spot danger early, set boundaries, escape grabs and holds, and protect yourself if you have no other choice.

The dojo is about eight kilometres east along Bell St. Adults have seven classes a week and kids and teens train after school and on Saturday mornings, so regular practice is easy to fit in.

Setting boundaries first

Most confrontations start with words, not punches. We teach you to read body language, keep a safe distance, use a firm voice and leave early. Only when that fails do the physical skills come in: releases, strikes, escapes from the ground and Knife Defence. Practising the whole sequence makes it far more likely you’ll stay calm and in control.

For women and teenage girls

Women train in our regular adult classes and teenage girls in Junior Adults, alongside partners of different sizes. That’s how you learn what really works against someone bigger and stronger. See women’s self defence.

For younger children

Kids from 4½ learn awareness, using their voice and escaping grabs in Ninja Stars and Samurai Warriors, through games and drills that keep it fun. See kids self defence.

Around Pascoe Vale station and Cole Reserve

Our Pascoe Vale students often describe the same everyday situations: waiting on the Craigieburn line platform after dark, walking home past Cole Reserve, or dealing with an aggressive driver in a shopping centre car park. In class we act these out step by step, first with words and positioning, then with physical options, so you build a plan for the places you actually go rather than a list of moves you’ll never remember.

What our students and parents say

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Google Review
I've been training in Japanese Jiu Jitsu and attending Adult Kickboxing classes for the last 3 years and I learn something new and valuable from the staff every time I go there. I would highly recommend this school to anyone wanting to start training in martial arts as an adult…

Amazing culture here and a very practical martial art. I've done martial arts for over 20 years and have struggled to find a club that balances humour, practicality, realistic techniques and education as well as this place.
