Ivanhoe kids, teens and women
Children from Ivanhoe Primary, St Bernadette’s, Mary Immaculate and the Ivanhoe Grammar schools learn to stay aware, use their voice and escape safely in our kids self defence classes. Teenagers train in Junior Adults (11 to 15), including Knife Defence basics. Women train in our regular adult classes, where technique beats size; see women’s self defence.
Why ongoing classes beat a one-day course
A one-day self defence course is a good start, but under real stress you only do what you’ve practised many times. Training regularly, close to home in Ivanhoe, is what makes the skills stick, and it keeps you fit while you’re at it.
Training around an Ivanhoe week
Because adult classes run on four weeknights plus two mornings and Saturday, Ivanhoe students rarely miss a week. Parents often drop kids at a 4:15pm or 5pm class and come back at 7:15pm for their own session. Commuters on the Hurstbridge line come straight from Ivanhoe station after work. If you travel or work shifts, the morning classes keep you on track, and you can swap times freely through the members app.

Had an awesome experience. Craig is super skilled, patient, and really know how to push you while keeping it fun. Everyone’s welcoming, and the training is really inviting for a beginner.

Amazing culture here and a very practical martial art. I've done martial arts for over 20 years and have struggled to find a club that balances humour, practicality, realistic techniques and education as well as this place.
— Andrew D.
This is an excellent place to learn martial arts. There's a seamless blend of respect for tradition and practical, effective, Self Defence. All in the most inclusive and welcoming environment you could ask for.
— Stu T.
This is a complete system for anyone wanting to learn not only physical defense, traditional weaponry, and modern day concepts, but also a balance of mental development for a pressured situation.

Great family friendly dojo. Very unique martial arts if you’re interested in practical defence techniques - boxing is great for fitness also.
