Self Defence near Kew
Self Defence Training Near Kew
Practical self defence for teens, adults and kids, just over the Yarra

Situations we train for
Our self defence training near Kew is built around real situations: walking home from Kew Junction at night, a teenager being targeted on public transport, a grab in a car park, or a threat with a knife. You learn what to say, how to move and what to do physically if you have no choice.
The dojo is about six kilometres north, over the Chandler Hwy bridge. Adults have seven classes a week, and teens and kids train after school and on Saturdays.

Teenagers travel independently more than ever, on trams, trains and to parties. In Junior Adults they learn awareness, how to avoid and leave trouble, how to escape grabs and how to respond to a knife threat, in a structured, respectful class. Kew parents tell us it gives them real peace of mind.
Adults and women
Adults train in 90-minute classes covering releases, strikes, ground escapes and Knife Defence. Women train in the same classes, alongside partners of all sizes; see women’s self defence.
Younger children
Kids from 4½ learn to use their voice, keep their distance and escape grabs in Ninja Stars and Samurai Warriors. See kids self defence.
Parties, trams and nights out
Kew teenagers are starting to go out on their own, to parties, the city and late trams home. We teach them practical rules: travel in groups, keep a charged phone, trust your instincts and leave early. Then we teach the physical skills for when those rules aren’t enough. Parents can relax a little more knowing their teen has a plan.

I've been training in Japanese Jiu Jitsu and attending Adult Kickboxing classes for the last 3 years and I learn something new and valuable from the staff every time I go there. I would highly recommend this school to anyone wanting to start training in martial arts as an adult…
— Natasha G.
Had an awesome experience. Craig is super skilled, patient, and really know how to push you while keeping it fun. Everyone’s welcoming, and the training is really inviting for a beginner.
— Andrew C.
Amazing culture here and a very practical martial art. I've done martial arts for over 20 years and have struggled to find a club that balances humour, practicality, realistic techniques and education as well as this place.
— Andrew D.
This is an excellent place to learn martial arts. There's a seamless blend of respect for tradition and practical, effective, Self Defence. All in the most inclusive and welcoming environment you could ask for.
— Stu T.
This is a complete system for anyone wanting to learn not only physical defense, traditional weaponry, and modern day concepts, but also a balance of mental development for a pressured situation.
— Andrew S.
